Positively U, Inc. is a non-profit, community-based
organization created by HIV-positive, minority citizen activists in central Florida. We are dedicated to providing a broad range of prevention, education, support and outreach services to all people infected or affected by HIV/AIDS. We are committed to serving everyone in our community with dignity and respect regardless of age, race, religion, creed, ethnicity, income, disabilities, gender and sexual orientations.
It is our mission to provide culturally appropriate and compassionate programming to HIV positive and "high risk" individuals in Polk, Hardee & Highlands
counties with an emphasis on tailoring our activities to meet each individual's specific needs.
We have identified the following goals and priorities:
Prevent the spread of HIV and AIDS through education, counseling, testing and referrals.
- Eliminate misconceptions and stigma surrounding HIV and AIDS by
elevating community consciousness and strengthening social responsibility
through education, activism and advocacy.
- Sustain and enhance the quality of life for people living
with HIV / AIDS by maintaining a comprehensive directory of resources ( i.e. faith-based initiatives, health care providers, government
agencies, public and private sources, etc.), offering referrals and providing navigation assistance for accessing services.
- Identify and address service gaps and barriers to care through
a continuous process of needs assessment, strategic planning, program
development/implementation and evaluation of efficacy and outcomes.
